60 km/h instead of 45 km/h
Thanks to a GDR special ruling
An S51 wants to be ridden, not spared.
60 KM/H Street legalWith the MID50 conversion kit you convert your own to electric, a one-afternoon project. After that you hop on and ride off, no choke, no two-stroke mix, no fiddling. It stays the rugged, honest S51, only now it plays along reliably every day.
Everything you need to convert your S51 to electric yourself, with an active community at your side.

Developed and produced in Berlin.
Road: 60 km/h and 5.5 hp (4 kW) street legal, via a parts certificate. This restriction is stored permanently and can't be raised afterwards.
Off-road: up to 20 hp, with no speed limit. For that you need two batteries running in parallel. With one battery it's up to 10 hp (7.5 kW).
You're still allowed to ride 60 km/h, thanks to the special GDR-era ruling.
A TÜV parts certificate is included.
After the conversion you need a change inspection from an expert (TÜV, Dekra, KÜS, GTÜ). Then you renew the papers at your registration office.
2 kWh, 50 V, removable.
If a cell fails, we replace exactly that cell, not the whole battery.
Strong passive cooling keeps the battery cool even at full speed.
You control the battery and vehicle through the Second Ride app, now with wireless updates too.
Around 4 months.
Fine print: The brands “Simson”, “IFA” and “S” have no connection to Second Ride and belong to the trademark owner GESA. The conversion kit is merely compatible with vehicles and add-on parts that were placed on the market under these brands. The battery may only be opened by Second Ride; replacing individual cells is likewise done only by us. If you open or modify it yourself, this can cause damage and void the warranty and guarantee. Images of an opened battery are for demonstration only.
