60 km/h instead of 45 km/h
Thanks to a GDR special ruling
Your build, your rules.
Don't want to wait until we finish a conversion kit for your vehicle? And you can develop and fabricate sheet-metal parts yourself? Then this one's for you. We supply the drivetrain and the complete open-source documentation, you build the rest.
For any vehicle with a mid-mounted engine from 50 to 125 cc.
From us: MID50 drivetrain, battery, charger and the complete open-source docs.
From you: adapter plates and frame mounts, self-developed and fabricated.
Up to 20 hp and up to 110 km with two batteries.
Developed and produced in Berlin.
The documentation gives you 3D models, wiring diagrams and guides to program the built-in open-source controller (VESC) yourself.
In our Discord community you swap 3D scans of vehicles, adapter drawings and further developments with other builders.
The adapter plates for the side covers aren't included; you develop those yourself.
You also build the frame mounts from sheet metal you develop yourself.
You probably can't bolt your cylinder on directly, the liner is in the way. On a defective cylinder you can remove it mechanically.
The orientation is set during production and can't be changed afterwards. So choose carefully.
State-of-charge display, ignition lock and button as separate components that you place freely in the vehicle.
All the cabling to connect drivetrain, battery and controls.
A Bowden-cable sensor.
A mount is not included.
2 kWh, 50 V, removable.
If a cell fails, we replace exactly that cell, not the whole battery.
Strong passive cooling keeps the battery cool even at full speed.
You control the battery and vehicle through the Second Ride app, now with wireless updates too.
Unlike our model-specific conversion kits, the AIY kit comes with no parts certificate.
For the road you need a change inspection under §21 or §19(2). Which proofs your inspector wants is up to them, and the requirements vary widely. So talk to them as early as possible, ideally before you start.
We're happy to provide the EMC certificate per ECE R10 for the MID50 drivetrain.
Around 4 months.
Fine print: The brands “Simson”, “IFA” and “S” have no connection to Second Ride and belong to the trademark owner GESA. The conversion kit is merely compatible with vehicles and add-on parts that were placed on the market under these brands. The battery may only be opened by Second Ride; replacing individual cells is likewise done only by us. If you open or modify it yourself, this can cause damage and void the warranty and guarantee. Images of an opened battery are for demonstration only.
